parachute pants from the op shop

Hi Sistas,
Pete is after some parachute pants..you know the ones that were very fashionable in the 80's..so if you happen to stop in an op shop (by chance) and see a pair, he'd love 'em. They are not to wear by the way, thank God...he's wanting to make kites.

Refash last night...a report like never before..(and never again I promise)

Well the sistas had another INTERESTING evening lat night. No..enough of this lovely dovey oh how you inspire me, lets write a report with a bit of attitude..we’re not always nice girls are we??

So Sassita had a headache and was very grumpy. ..sitting around looking very unglamorous with her ice pack on her head and stinking of lavender oil. She even succumbed to drugs which she preaches she never touches..(anymore)..and she was intent on showing off her many op shop serving plates and other tea party pieces so baked a few goodies to off set the plates. Immediately she was berated by Bellita nd Judita for setting the standard so high. Nothing like a thankyou for all your hard effort!

Chai tea was served by Pinito and to be honest it was not as special as last time…since it was COLD!! Good try anyway Petito…who I am sure was eaves dropping at times esp. when we were stripping off to try on Bellitas T-shirts. He did happen to ask afterwards if we had taken bras off as well…ha you wish!

Yes Bellita MADE us all try on t-shirts so she could pick the best cut…come on a t-shirt is a t-shirt Bellita!
And her curtains made from a massive doiley.. the one that’s far too big for a t-shirt. Her massive doiley that cost ..what $12.oo?? over priced she says, you girls really are getting cheap.. “Gee its quite expensive ..$12..hmm I’ll lash out today why not, it’s a yes day today”

Speaking of ‘yes girls’, Jude looked hot in all the t-shirts, as I think I’ve mentioned in an earlier report Jude looks good in anything, except of course Autumn colors..or Spring..or Summer. Anyway Jude was mending most of the night..BORING!! and she’d like me to say she finished 7 pairs of pants, 6 tops and a pair of shoes but lets face it Jude there was so much hackling you really didn’t get that much done did you? Considering you bought so many bags in…3 loads of stuff…what for??? Pretending perhaps??
She was amusing herself by making jokes at the expense of other sisters. I’m sure that’s not in the code of sisterly Refash behaviour. And it spreads Judita…just look at this report! Her only creative contribution seemed to be…”why not add ears and make it into a character or something”

And Lazzita well what can I say ..always bloody smiling. In she walks after a heavy, apparently stressful week of marking uni papers and she’s still bloody smiling, I mean REALLY Lazzita, how about turning that smile upside down sometimes and showing us a frown! She refashed a brooch that wasn’t good enough in the first place..FUSSY. The girl who made it obviously thought it was good enough. Then she proceeded to really show off by bringing out the big guns. Mosaic equipment and a souldering iron. What do you think this is Lazzita, pushing the boundaries a bit there. I mean we want to get creative but that sort of thing belongs in a men’s shed. And then she had to show them all off… “Oh look what I made girls..a ring’ yes very bloody clever sista Lazz..I think my 5 year old could do that..EASY!! and where’s the ring bit? Not that special without that is it??
Kezzita was going to come but rang at the very last minute..too tired apparently. Too much gardening she says..or was it her night out during the week, drinking and behaving badly.
And Julieta..another non-attendee. Just because your dad is over from Scotland doesn’t mean you should snub the sistas. Scotlands not that far away.
And where was our newest member Siggita?? Too tired as well. Maybe or maybe not.

The night ended very late and the sistas left in the rain. Perhaps it was the rain that set the mood that night?? Oh and there’s no photos as sassita hadn’t charged the camera battery..bit slack!

N.B.
I promise the next report will be written with love as usual…they made me do it!!!!!!!

Persian love cake

From: http://gourmettraveller.com.au/persian_love_cake.htm
Serves 8
Cooking Time Prep time 15 mins, cook 35 mins (plus cooling)

360 gm (3 cups)

almond meal

220 gm (1 cup)

raw sugar

220 gm (1 cup)

brown sugar

120 gm

unsalted butter, softened

2

eggs, lightly beaten

250 gm

Greek-style yoghurt, plus extra to serve

1 tbsp

freshly grated nutmeg

45 gm (¼ cup)

pistachios, coarsely chopped

1

Preheat oven to 180C. Combine almond meal, sugars, butter and 1 tsp salt in a bowl, then rub with fingertips until coarse crumbs form. Spoon half the mixture into a lightly buttered and baking paper-lined 26cm-diameter springform pan, gently pressing to evenly cover base.

2

Add egg, yoghurt and nutmeg to remaining crumble mixture and beat with a wooden spoon until smooth and creamy. Pour over prepared base, smooth top, scatter pistachios around edge and bake until golden (30-35 minutes.) Cool completely in pan on a wire rack to room temperature, then serve with extra yoghurt. The cake will keep in an airtight container for up to a week.

Miss Divine Jo (who passed on the recipe to me) said that she has made many Persian Love cakes over the years, and through trial and error she has found that 35mins baking is not enough, she usually bakes hers for around 60mins. The first one I baked with love for 50mins…. Suppose it depends massively on your oven!!! Have a play around!

collecting items for Judita

Hello Sisters,

Just thought I'd itemise my wants for you here to remind you in case you have any lying about at home or see any in op shops (dirt cheap or don't bother)... I don't ask much do I? Here they are:

dead textas for my cubby curtain. I still don't have nearly enough. But I've also found that the cheaper textas have very brittle plastic shafts that shatter when I disembowel them. (insane laughter here) So they're not much good.

jam jar lids. I'm going to experiment with the idea of using them as backings for little painted scenes to go on necklaces. With or without plastic figures in the scenes... Not sure if I'll be able to neatly attach a fitting to put them on the necklace wire, but I imagine my beloved ITO (officially now Scottito the Loveable) will be able to offer suggestions on this point if he is in the mood.

smallish picture frames in op shops. This is a tricky one due to expense involved. You might be best to just drop me a line with the location if you don't want them for yourselves of course! (I'm enjoying the bold and italics here. I never got over the novelty of writing a cheque either. I'm easily amused.)

I'm looking for a few character traits in my used frames: They must be obviously second-hand / recycled but sound in construction. They must be very cheap but have personality. They must have glass fronts. Any shape will do. (moved on to colour now. Note, I am using a Cool Winter colour. Sassita will have to write in orange or something.)

tiny plastic figures and farm animals. You are unlikely to find these, but if you do, maybe let me know.

winning lottery tickets

I think that about does it for now.

I need to get on with my work but it's a little bit hard at the moment and all I want to do is play. I think I want to be a kept woman for a year, with no work. Maybe even TWO years!

How many Sisters are doing the Camberwell Market? All those in favour say AYE!

Yours in Sisterhood,

Judita x x x

The ITOs

I hope Penito's dubbing ceremony went well the other night, after our most delightful evening at the Fair Julieta's home. Penito is the new name for Petito. I believe Sassita was going to dub him when they got home. I hope so.

Any other ITOs who wish to workshop their titles, please consult with an ITA and inform me so that the new title may be listed. So far we have: Penito (The Alpha Male by virtue of being hitched to Sassita); Scottito and Scottito (one being Dapper Scottito, and the other not) Andito, Tonito, and the As Yet undubbed Gregito, Neilito and Robito.

Above is an image of Scottito the Undapper-But-Lovable, having his hair cut.
