little summer refash project

Hi Sistas,

Sorry I posted too soon by accident! How rude... Here is a little project that we could all participate in. All we have to do, as you will see from the links if you have time to look at them, is make a little work of art that will fit into an envelope and be sold for $1.20 via an art vending machine at Kingston Arts Centre. In the instructions it says 2D (art-vend is a non site specific vending machine which vends art for $1.20 a pop. art-vend accepts submissions from all artists working in 2d and packages works up ready to vend. Prints, drawings, paintings, poetry and prose are all welcome. All submissions are accepted, all artists links are posted on this site, and all works are photographed and linked to this site. There is no selection criteria for participation in art-vend, but works must be between 4cm x 10cm and 10cm x 10cm. For more information please email art_vend@yahoo.com, or to submit for art-vend, please post artworks to 9 Colebrook St Brunswick 3056) But I notice from the Flickr site that some of them are not really 2D. So I suspect that button necklaces and ceramic brooches / rings would be wonderful... there are in fact already 3 doylies shown on the Flickr site. 2 of them dyed bright colours. So I think we are talking refash territory.

They are accepting any submissions right now and through to Feb, so get stitching, soldering, gluing, threading, drawing, painting, writing, etc etc etc.

merry christmas and a happy new year sistas
I hope you all had a good one. Cant wait for our next session although I've heard its on the 8th and we come back that afternoon so it may be a bit hard...but you never know. I am experiencing extreme refash withdrawals now...shaking, blabbering, twitching....luckily we've been camping and the bush has soothed the soul instead.
I started on some rather cute button rings the other night.will try to get a pic up somtime

button necklace - SHAZAM!

Dear Sistas,

Like Sassita, I felt I should go public on my feedback re the new button necklace (cool winter) designed and made for me by the Sensational New-Look Kezzita. The aforementioned Kezzita gave the necklace to me yesterday afternoon. I wore it today. I left the house for exactly ONE HOUR in the entire day. 35 minutes of that one hour was spent driving so doesn't count. In the remaining 25 minutes I received no less than 4 enthusiastic compliments on my necklace. This equates to one compliment every 6 minutes of time in the public forum (allowing 25 seconds for the delivery of each compliment). I consider this a good rating.

the fairies return

Hi Sistas,
I hope Thursday refash went well. I was certainly there in spirit and I know you were all thinking of me..thanks. I have been at mums since then and looking after her as much as I can. We aren't sure whats happening yet. I did finish my dragonfly mobile while visiting dad and have hung it in his room...he loves it!!! I have had several requests already from hospital staff to make them.....hmmmm....
Anyway after such a crap weekend what a wonderful surprise it was to walk in the front gate tonight and find the fairies had brought some friends along as well as a stage, trestle table and sparkly shell path. I was so touched I cried yet again. It confirmed my children's belief in fairies...and mine in angels.
